We are Queer artists, thinkers, and love cultivators. We engage mikveh, the ancient Jewish ritual of water immersion, as an art practice. We activate mikveh as a ritual for spiritual connection, cultural transformation, and a form of community organizing. Water moves us towards freedom and Olam Haba, the Jewish concept of the world to come, as we remember the power of our bodies as water and our own bodily autonomy.
We are guided by the teachings of our ancestors and continue to queer the concept of mikveh itself. The vessels of our bodies heal, create, and resist all forms of violence. When we immerse, we bring our hearts, our spirits, and our communities home. We make space and time for art, connection, conversation, action, and love, where everyone belongs.
We stand in solidarity with Indigenous water protectors the world over because as Jews we share the sacred responsibility to protect water, the source of all life.
We do this by:
Listening and following Indigenous leadership
Centering Disabled, Trans, and Non-binary people, Jews of Color, Black Jews and Indigenous Jews, Sephardim and Mizrahim
Engaging in and envisioning new rituals that draw from ancestral knowledge and the spiral of “time”
Creative and political strategic action
Supporting Land Back campaigns
Learning together, political education, and studying
Inspiring embodiment with a focus on disability justice
Making art for the sake of the healing power of beauty
Revolutionize the Jewish community’s understanding of our role in Land Back everywhere
Make mikveh truly accessible to every Jew and anyone who wants to respectfully participate
Shift our understanding and practice of Judaism away from hetero-patriarchal norms and towards earth-based feminist spirituality
Build international community that shares our mission and vision
Make art that organizes people to shift the balance of power away from the capitalist system
Live our values of love, community, and spirituality in everything we do and be
